Wool Sales Catalogue 32
published 05 Jun 2025

The 32nd sale of the 2024/25 wool selling season took place today, offering 7 209 bales, following the withdrawal of 516 bales prior to the sale.

The catalogue presented a balanced mix of long and medium-length wools, with a noteworthy 60,3% of the Merino wool offering being sustainably certified.

Despite pressure from a stronger South African Rand against the US Dollar, the market performed solidly. Both the all-merino and certified indicators closed higher, and the sale achieved a robust overall clearance of 95,2%.

The all-merino indicator rose by 0,3%, closing at R173,80 per kilogram, while the certified wool indicator edged up slightly by 0,1%, settling at R177,32 per kilogram.

The top price of the day was R222,79 per kilogram (clean), paid for a premium single-bale lot of 16,6-micron Merino wool.

Meanwhile, the Australian wool market posted mixed results this week, ending 0,4% lower in Australian dollar terms compared to its previous sale on Wednesday, 28 May.

Leading buyers at today’s sale included BKB Pinnacle Fibres (1 689 bales), Standard Wool SA (1 489), G. Modiano SA (1 117), and Tianyu SA (923).

The next wool auction is scheduled for 11 June 2025, with approximately 11 862 bales expected to be on offer.
