The final sale of the 2024/25 wool selling season took place this week, with a larger offering of 11 618 bales.

The offering consisted of mixed length wools, with 67% of the offering testing 20 micron and finer. Sustainably certified wools comprised 60,7% of the merino wools on offer.

The market continued to deliver steady results this week, amidst a stronger ZAR against the US$, with strong competition for the good style, longer length merino fleece wools on offer, resulting in an overall sales clearance of 96,6%

The all-merino indicator closed unchanged on R173,80 p/kg, whilst the certified indicator increased by 0,3% to close on R177,77 p/kg.

A highest price of R254,31p/kg (clean) was paid for a single bale lot of 15,3-micron merino fleece wool.

The Australian market eased slightly by 0,1% (AU$) today, but still managed positive returns in US$ terms, compared to the previous sale held on Wednesday, 11 June.

The major buyers on this week's sale were  Standard Wool SA (3 089), BKB Pinnacle Fibres (2 161), G Modiano SA (1 857) and Tianyu SA (1 703).

The first sale for the 2025/26 wool season is provisionally scheduled for Wednesday 20 August 2025.
