The 2026/2027 wool selling season continued today with 7 141 bales on offer on the 5th sale of the season.
The offering mainly consisted of fine micron wools, with 69% testing 20 micron and finer. Sustainably certified wools comprised 64,4% of the merino wools on
offer.
Despite the weakening of the Rand against the US$, the market continuead it's downward trend. The strong competiton for the better quality merino and certified
wools, drove the overall sales clearance up to 97,7%.
The all-merino indicator closed down by 0,6% on R259,63 p/kg and the certified indicator decreased by 0,9% to close on R264,21 p/kg.
A highest price of R367,94 p/kg (clean) R271,10(greasy) was paid for 2-bale lot of 15,8 micron merino wool.
The Australian market continued it's downward trend this week and decreased by 0,48% (AU$) from their previous sale held on Wednesday, 9 September.
The major buyers on today’s sale were Tianyu SA (1 647), BKB Pinnacle Fibres (1 529), G Modiano SA (1 210) and Stucken & Co (957).
The next sale will take place on 30 September 2026, where approximately 7 691 bales will be on offer.
